Inmates stage protest inside prison as Parliament considers amnesty bill

A group of inmates escalated unrest inside a Lebanese prison by hanging makeshift nooses in their cells, demanding the approval of a general amnesty law and a reduction in prison sentence durations.

The protest coincided with a parliamentary session where lawmakers reviewed an expedited draft law proposing a general amnesty and exceptional reductions to certain sentences.
